Sage Intacct to Xero Migration Specialists
Historical Sage Intacct migration into Xero with entity, dimension, VAT, foreign currency and restructuring considerations built into the scope.
Keep the accounting history your finance team still needs.
The exact scope is agreed from the source data, transaction volume and future Xero structure. These are the areas we commonly preserve.
Historical transactions
Included when present in the agreed source data.
Entities
Included according to the agreed migration scope.
Dimensions
Included according to the agreed migration scope.
VAT / tax
Included according to the agreed migration scope.
Foreign currency
Included according to the agreed migration scope.
Restructuring
Included according to the agreed migration scope.
Intacct migrations usually need a deliberate simplification plan.
Sage Intacct can hold a more complex entity and dimension structure than Xero. We review what needs to remain and what should be simplified before migration.
The source export needs enough transaction detail to preserve accounting context, including tax information, transaction references and dimensions where they are part of the agreed scope.
For multi-entity groups, we can plan each Xero organisation separately while keeping the migration approach and mapping consistent across the group.
What we deliberately check
- Trial Balance and control accounts
- Aged Receivables and Payables
- VAT / tax position and mapping
- Foreign currency where applicable
- Analysis / tracking structure
- Material source-data exceptions
The difficult part is often getting a complete, connected source extract.
Intacct holds useful accounting context across the general ledger and the AR/AP subledgers. For a detailed migration, we need enough source data to reconstruct the accounting history and reconcile it back to the reports the finance team trusts.
General ledger detail
We review detailed GL activity, journal and transaction references so migrated entries can be traced back to the source.
AR and AP history
Invoices, bills, receipts, payments and open items need to retain enough linkage to support aged-ledger reconciliation and allocations when included in the agreed migration.
VAT / tax detail
Where tax history is being preserved, the export needs the tax amounts and rates required to reconstruct transactions rather than only gross accounting values.
Dimensions and entities
Departments, locations and other analysis fields are reviewed against Xero's simpler tracking structure rather than copied blindly.
Foreign currency
Currency, source values and exchange-rate information are reviewed where multi-currency history forms part of the migration.
Applications / allocations
Where payment-to-invoice allocation history is required, we confirm that the available Intacct data exposes the relationships needed to reproduce it reliably.
From source system to reconciled Xero organisation.
The mechanics vary by source system, but the control points stay consistent.
Scope
History, entities, volumes, FX, tracking, attachments and timing.
Extract
Collect the source data using the appropriate reports or access route.
Map
Agree Chart of Accounts, contacts, tracking and restructuring.
Migrate
Load the agreed historical data into a controlled Xero organisation.
Reconcile
Compare the result to the source and document exceptions before handover.
Not everything should be copied one-for-one.
- Not every Intacct dimension can or should be reproduced in Xero.
- High-volume entities need specific scoping against Xero performance constraints.
- Source exports must contain enough detail to support tax, reconciliation and transaction-level reconstruction.
Migration evidence, not just an import.
Depending on scope, the handover can include source-to-Xero Trial Balance comparison, aged-ledger checks, VAT review, migration workings, mapping schedules and documented exceptions.
Many projects also include training, first VAT return assistance and a period of post-go-live email support.
What we need from you to extract the data.
We use a preferred extraction route for each source system because it gives us the detail needed to rebuild and reconcile the history properly.
We handle the technical extraction work wherever possible, so your finance team is not left building migration templates.
How it works
For Sage Intacct, we need access to detailed reports or exports that include the transaction-level accounting information required for the agreed scope, including tax, references, dimensions and foreign currency where applicable.

Sage Intacct to Xero questions.
Project-specific scope is confirmed after we review your source system and data requirements.
Can you migrate multiple Intacct entities?
Yes. Each target Xero organisation is scoped separately while keeping group mapping consistent where useful.
Can Intacct dimensions be mapped to Xero?
Yes, but Xero has a simpler analysis model, so the structure often needs consolidation or redesign.
Can foreign currency be migrated?
Yes, subject to the source detail and agreed scope.
Can VAT or tax detail be preserved?
Yes, where the source export includes the required tax rates and amounts.
Can you restructure the data during migration?
Yes. Intacct-to-Xero projects often benefit from a deliberate Chart of Accounts and dimension restructuring.
Do you reconcile each entity?
Yes. Each migrated organisation is validated against agreed source reports.
Tell us what needs to come with you.
We’ll confirm the data we need to scope the migration properly.
